In a side-street on the east side of Echigo-Yuzawa station you'll find a hidden gem, this Ramen restaurant serves hearty miso, soya, salty and other types of ramen that's a welcome sight on a cold winter's day. They also have a variety of gyoza (we like the garlic ones) and several dishes on the wall that we found out are 'evening only'. Don't forget to try the exceptional char-sui pork. Seasoned eggs (tamago): 100 yen. Getting there: go out the east exit (down the long escalator) at Echigo-Yuzawa station and turn left, continue through the carpark and down the street (runs parallel to the station) about half-way along, on the right.
