International Lodge

Welcome to Hiiragi’s International Lodge for Backpackers, Snowsports, Fujirock and fans of historical museums.

International Lodge is located in the Hatsukaishi area of Ishiuchi Maruyama Ski Resort.

For over 50 years International Lodge opened its doors to customers from around the world under its former name STI Ski Lodge.

Built by Ski Tours International (STI) in 1972, International Lodge was the first Austrian-style ski lodge in Japan built by foreigners.

Over the years the building fell into disrepair and is still in original condition. It is suitable for Backpackers and those looking for adventure!

Many interesting historical artefacts have emerged from clearing out International Lodge including photos, videos, snowsports memorabilia, and interesting items from the local Niigata area.

In response,  Hiiragi has created a dedicated Snow Museum open free to the public during winter.

Hiiragi’s International Snow Museum is a member of the ‘free Museum Stamp Rally’ map, dedicated to the education and preservation of local history in Niigata.

We welcome your visit to Hiiragi’s International Lodge for Backpackers and International Snow Museum.
